Laura ParsonsMrs. Parsons started Parsons Communications after establishing a national reputation for public relations expertise in the corporate world. Her primary areas of proficiency are communications strategy and professional coaching, whether it is for media management or personal development. She is also known for teaching presentation skills and using social media to build brand awareness. She held various public relations, marketing and administrative positions at Smith Barney (now Citigroup), Integrated Resources, Boettcher & Co. (now Kemper Financial Services), and INVESCO Funds Group (now AIM Investments). She was invited to participate as a member of the Evanston Group, which is an exclusive group of the top PR professionals in the financial industry. Prior to Parsons Communications, she was Senior Vice President of Corporate Affairs for INVESCO Funds Group; she was responsible for public relations strategy, internal and external communications, media training, governmental relationships, corporate sponsorships and community involvement. She also helped develop and direct the company’s e-commerce department, which was awarded the Dalbar award of excellence. She provided an average annual advertising equivalent of over $30 million from publicity coverage, increase assets under management 19X, and increased brand awareness to 32% for an unknown company. An estimated 20-30 percent of gross sales were tracked to public relations activities. As a global partner for INVESCO’s parent company, she served on the Chairman’s Advisory Council in 2003 and was a member of the Global Retail Marketing Committee. She received a B.S. in Business Administration with a concentration in Communications from the University of Kansas. She is a member of the Public Relations Society of America and mentor for communications professionals.
