“The first phase of the $3.2 million project is projected to break ground in the Central Valley in the second half of 2010. The plant will treat approximately 240,000 gallons of drainage water per day and convert approximately 5 tons of waste brine salts into carbon-neutral and carbon-negative chemicals. These byproducts, such as acid, caustic soda and solid carbonates like limestone and soda ash that can be used in the manufacture of glass, plastic or building materials. In addition, the project will trap approximately 2.8 tons of carbon dioxide daily.”

“Eco-friendly brewers, New Belgium Brewery, have announced the dates and lineup for their 2008 Tour De Fat – their annual traveling bike festival that aims to bring awareness of how simple it is to better to the environment by trading in your car for a bike. Over the last eight years, Tour de Fat has captured the imagination of thousands with record-setting parades, eye-popping entertainment, death-defying contests of bicycle skill and precision, and, of course, New Belgium beer. This year, the festival kicks off in Chicago, where Tour de Fat will make its debut appearance in the Windy City on June 21. Ten more cities across the west are slated through October.”

The craft brewer tweaked its ‘Find Your Folly’ ad message to create the ‘Redefining Folly’ print effort. The campaign celebrates environmental activists including wind power visionary Dan Hartman and the skinny dippers of WhiteSalmonRiver.org.”
